Petra's fantastic way to say good bye

The audience was at the boiling point when Petra came on stage. This was the moment we all had waited for. The show started at high gear with "All About Who You Know" from the last album. And when the hit "Dance" from 1991 immediately followed, the crowd really exploded. Nearly everyone was singing loud, giving a hint that lots of true fans had made their way to the event. Not many could sit completely still, just as it is supposed to at a Petra concert!

Further, we got to hear the cream of old and new hits."Amazing Grace", "Test Of Time", "Creed" and "Right Place" has to be mentioned. They also played a medley with "Sight Unseen", "It Is Finished", "Midnight Oil" and "This Means War" along with a few other "rock blocks". Of course, the audience loved this, and their true dedication gave John Schlitt & co the extra little push to make this concert something special. I have been on several Petra-concerts, indoor as well as outdoor, and this one was absolutely one of the best. It just seemed like the band members was in top shape this evening!

About halfway through the show they calmed down a bit with an acoustic part. Please don't misunderstand, this was absolutely not an anti-climax. In many ways this was rather the climax. "Rose Colored Stained Glass Windows", "Road To Zion", "More Power To Ya", "For Annie", "No Doubt", "Coloring Song" and "Love" was put together in a medley with multiple vocals, acoustic guitar and tam-tams. Most of these songs are on the favourite-list of many Petheads. Not only because they are beautiful songs, but also because of the strong and clear message they carry.

We already know for a fact that the members of Petra are great musicians. They further proved this point with excellent solo performances. Greg Bailey played a great bass solo, and Bob Hartman rocked us with his guitar solo in his own particular style. But Paul Simmons' drum solo was probably the event that made most people gasp. This man hits hard and fast, and he made the crowd over-excited!

Petra kept the steam up all the way to the end. "Beyond Belief" and "Juda's Kiss" was received with joy by the listeners. As was "Lord I Lift Your Name On High" which they played as a last song before they stepped down from the stage. Everyone shouted for more, and Petra did not disappoint the fans. They played not only one, but two songs as an extra performance, namely "He Came, He Saw, He Conquered" and "Wee Need Jesus". Bob Hartman held his testimony and invited people for prayer. John Schlitt finished the whole event by making a clear statement and encouragement: "See you in Heaven!"

Thanks a lot, Petra, for for a fantastic concert! And thanks a lot for the music and ministry through all these years! Thas night we will remember forever!
