Full church on the first meeting!
It was a kickstart for the festival! Well above 400 people came to the church, which means it was crowded. And the audience got what they expected. True to the tradition, we had a countdown on the wall, immediately followed by the Oygospel Movie. Karl Ivar Fjell is the man behind this year's movie, and the result was just great!
After a short welcome it was time for the musical part of the evening. Confess, the youth choir of Flekkeroy, got to play first. High quality and joyful singing is how we know Confess, and tonight was no exception.
Then it was time for the largest choir ever to perform on Oygospel, Confess and Confessing merged together. The result was a lot of people on the stage, and equally less audience. And with so many singers, it was really powerful! The two choirs have cooperated on a few occassions the last time, and this mini concert is probably the highlight so far.
Confessing, from Vennesla, continued on their own just after. And they are really good! they are not as many as Confess, but that doesn't hurt. Great music all the way through. Good solists, a great band and catching songs made this a wonderful experience.
The Oygospel Award was handed out too, and price winner Magne Liane seemed to be surprised. But this was indeed well earned! He's had something to do with most of the musical life on Flekkeroy the last 10 years, either as a guitar player, or as a sound technician. And since Magne is a practical man, we figured he might as well get a practical gift instead of useless wall decorations. New slippers and T-shirt was well received!
Finally it was time for Convoy, a youth choir from Voyebyen. This choir is a regular guest on the festival, and several of their members contribute to the sound, light and video troughout the event. It's always a pleasure to watch Convoy on stage, they are good while having a lot of fun when singing. And they delivered the most rocked song tonight, complete with a cool guitar solo!
Andreas Hegertun's speech was wonderful as well as challenging. "What do you want with me, Jesus?" was the theme. This man knows how to put words on his thoughts, and the audience listened with attention. He took texts from the Bible, and presented them in such a way that you for a little while could think it was stories from our time he was telling.
Praise singing is also a regular thing on the festival. Some of Convoy's members was sporty enough to put together a praise band in short warning. And of course people was invited for prayer towards the end og the meeting. In short, a great evening!
