An evening of joy!

Singer and bassist Joakim Hansen made it clear when they finally was on stage: "this will be an evening of joy". And he was right! Around 250 people in the room was more than ready for a healthy dose of rock, and they were not let down in any way!

Joakim has a powerful voice, and he rocks his bass while he plays. Both of the guitar players, John Hjeldsbakken and Christer Slaaen, also sing backing vocals while Runar Hellum keep a steady pace behind the drum set. Together they gave us really good rock and an awesome show on the stage! The music is guitar-based, with catching melodies, lots of vocal harmonies and more than enough drive to make it impossible for you not to move your feet...

The band started the concert by letting Runar play a little drum solo, then the rest of the boys entered stage. We were "ordered" to smile, then they played a song about just that. The chorus echoed with "smile boy, smile girl". After a couple songs the audience started to let loose. A small, but quickly growing crowd gathered in front of the stage, and the boys in the band rocked it up even more. In particular Christer took off, he climbed amplifiers and speakers, and went down among the audience both with and without guitar several times. Joakim also joined the audience in addition to give them a spray of water between the songs...

They also took their time for a couple slower songs, and Christer picked up a slighly burnt (!) acoustic guitar, it's almost as good as new... Kjell Audun from the Roadservice-team also joined a song, he was singing and playing a keyboard. Towards the end the show reached new heights. "It's hard to lift the roof" said Joakim with a smile, "but let's try to stomp a hole in the floor!" The audience followed up with tramping their feet and clapping their hands, but fortunately the floor survived. The show came to an end after two extra songs, and it looks like Oygospel 08 will be remembered for the people shouting for "one more hour" at the end of the concerts!

It was a good bunch of happy and sweat people who left the church tonight. The guys in Humming People was very pleased with their audience, and everyone we spoke with after thought it had been an incredibly good concert. It almost seem to us that Humming People got a few new fans during the evening!
